Bike is a 2010 SE. Are all US TBs fitted with a cat or just California bikes? If it is fitted where is it? Thanks, Guys.

It is possible that a previous owner removed it if it was fitted with an aftermarket exhaust. it may be fitted with cross over elbows. Look underneath the bike in the area where the heat shields and passenger foot pegs are. If you see nothing then the aftermarket exhaust runs straight back from the header pipe by passing the need for cross over pipes and or the cat

If you are changing your exhaust and planning to remove the cat then you might or may not need cross over elbows. If you do need elbows you can make your own, but better yet is to buy them from " Jack be Quick". Bob a member of this forum, he manufacturers them. He gose by the name of VA bird and has a web site to purchase from.

Don't know if you are aware that if you go with after market pipes you will probably need a hi- Flo air filter and and a new tune for the ECU to get Max power.

Totally undecided about pipes and cat. Just got the bike. Only 200 miles in.
Sounds pretty good, especially after the America sewing machine.
Considered just removing cat, assuming no need for remap.
Figured that might help with both power (small increase) and exhaust sound (small increase).
Will wait till after MA inspection sticker next Spring. My usual guy is retiring.
He is pretty relaxed. Not sure who will replace him and whether he will care.

I don't think I would go through the trouble ( for me) to remove and reinstall the cat. But I still have it in a storage box in case I should move. Some members leave the cat on but " gut" it for more flow. It's best that you take your time so that you can decide what it is you want. Let us know when you do
